Indian Standard Time now an officially recognized time zone

GREENWICH, UK – The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has announced that Indian Standard Time is now an officially recognized time zone. INDIAN Standard Time is not the same as INDIA Standard Time (UTC + 5:30), which is the official time zone that covers all of India. “This is truly an historic moment,” said Dr. Silvia Torres-Peimbert, president of the IAU. “Until now, the world had 24 time zones – one for each hour in the day. We have always rigorously measured and observed a number of factors to maintain the integrity of the system. But in the past 40 years, small anomalies had crept into our data – and … Continue reading

KOLKATA, India – Sonu Mitra, 22, visited India for the first time in 12 years this week. While his family is happy he turned out fair skinned, they wish he was a little bit taller. Comedian Russell Peters denied entrance to India for not being Indian enough

NEW DELHI, INDIA – Successful stand-up comedian Russell Peters was denied entrance to India for not being Indian enough. Said the sponsor of the legislation, Vikram Lollipopwala (BJP), “We have had our eye on Mr. Peters for many years. Many people learn what it is to be Indian from him – but he has been spreading false truths. We decided that there should be strict standards on what makes someone Indian enough. Outsourced

Review: I watched the Outsourced tv series – and loved it

We got a trial of Hulu a month ago and while seeing what they offered, I noticed Outsourced. It rang a bell; I have a faint memory of seeing the 2006 movie that inspired it but had no idea there was a tv show (we haven’t had cable for at least 10 years). It was a pleasant surprise – an American tv show set in India, with a mostly Indian cast? Hot damn – that’s some progress right there. Or at least I hoped it was progress because there was an excellent chance that the show would suck. Except the show … Continue reading
